The oldest member of the House said she is “of course” running again for reelection, despite mounting questions about her fitness for office.

Eleanor Holmes Norton, 88, a Democratic non-voting delegate who represents the District of Columbia, told Axios on Thursday that she is “not going to step aside.”

While rejecting a push for generational change, Norton said: “I say that my seniority is what is very important.”

Her comments come as Norton, who has served as a congresswoman for the district since 1991, has faced scrutiny for struggling to do her job from colleagues in recent months, according to several reports . The New York Times reported in June that Norton rarely attends meetings in person of the Oversight Committee, and in hearings, she typically sits quiet and alone.
