LIPSCOMB, Ala. (WIAT) -- The mayor of Lipscomb is speaking out following an investigation into an officer-involved incident that took place over the weekend, resulting in the arrest of three young sisters.

Lipscomb Mayor Tonja Baldwin said that the Lipscomb officers involved in the incident were operating within the legal scope of their practice. She said they were there to do their job, and they executed their duties appropriately.

Lipscomb police responded to a gunshots report in Woodward Estates, where police say they encountered a group of 10 or more teenagers. A male was arrested for shooting into city limits.

Police then received a second call regarding the same group attempting to assault another juvenile.
