Some demonstrators are protesting the current special legislative session in Missouri by hanging banners from overpasses along Interstate 70 between Kansas City and St. Louis. They include Columbia resident Carol Elliott, who’s a member of the Boone County Democrats.
“The purpose of these banners is to call attention to what is happening in our state with the redistricting proposals, (and) the proposal to weaken the initiative petition process so that it’s harder for citizens to push back against what the legislature does,” Elliot told Missourinet.
Protesters will be hanging and displaying banners Friday and Saturday. She said the protests won’t include blocking traffic.
“Our protests are strictly legal, and we will not be disrupting traffic in any way,” she said.
