Katherine Buchanan-Critch hugged her two-and-a-half-year-old son Dominic as he excitedly clapped after the Childcan gold ribbon flag was raised at Owen Sound city hall on Friday to recognize September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

It is a cause that Buchanan-Critch is all too familiar with after at just six months of age, a cancerous neuroblastoma tumour was discovered in Dominic’s abdomen. After nine rounds of chemotherapy in London, he will be cancer free for two years in December, and Buchanan-Critch is now doing what she can to support other families going through what she has.
