(CNN)– Trump Administration is planning to drop proposed Biden-era rules on compensating customers for disrupted flights.

Former President Biden and Former Transportation Department Secretary Pete Buttigieg originally proposed the rule in 2023.

The idea was to require air carriers to provide “essential services” and compensation to passengers after a canceled or delayed flight in the U.S. due to circumstances within the airlines’ control.

A transportation department spokesperson said some of the Biden Administration’s proposed rules went beyond what congress has required.
