Alfredo Garcia Venegas was “arrested without incident” in connection with a hit-and-run of a 16-year-old girl who was riding her bike to Etiwanda High School on Aug. 6.
According to the Fontana Police Department’s Daniel Romero, Venegas allegedly hit the teenager with his white Ford Ranger before fleeing the scene. The student, whose name was not released, is in critical condition at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Police transported and booked Venegas, 29, at West Valley Detention Center.
Police and the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a hit-and-run traffic collision at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 6 in the Cherry and Walnut avenues area.
The medics from the fire department rendered emergency medical aid before the student was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
