The writing was on the wall that Tyler Bass was not at 100 percent when the Buffalo Bills hosted three veteran kickers on a tryout last week.

Bass, 28, dealt with pelvic soreness throughout the summer. The injury kept Bass out of training camp and the team’s first two preseason games. Buffalo tried to give Bass ample time to recover from the injury and it seemed to work with Bass suiting up for Buffalo in the team’s preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bass connected on 3-of-4 field goals and two extra points in the Bills’ 23-19 win.

Things seemed to be trending in the right direction, but the tryouts were the first warning sign. This week, things went from bad to worse when Bass went from being limited in practice on Wednesday to not participating on Thursday. In addit
