Elections Alberta is reviewing the possible name change after Alberta Party members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the rebrand

The Alberta Party is seeking approval from Elections Alberta to rebrand itself as the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party after members voted in favour of changing the party’s name last month.

The effort to revive the former Progressive Conservative party brand is being led in part by former United Conservative Party (UCP) MLAs Peter Guthrie and Scott Sinclair, who see rebranding an existing party as the quickest way to bring back the name of the party that governed Alberta for more than four decades.
