LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A corpse was recovered from the Ohio River, according to Louisville Metro Police.

At around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 5, LMPD’s River Unit responded to the Louisville Fire Department’s call of a body being reported in the Ohio River.

LMPD says the body was just north of the Belle of Louisville.

A tugboat operator spotted what they believed was a body on the surface of the water before calling it in.

Officers recovered the body of an adult who was “obviously deceased.” The gender, race and age of the victim have not yet been confirmed.

LMPD’s Homicide Unit is actively conducting a death investigation.
