MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A 43-year-old subway rider in Manhattan was hit in the face with a toolbox, according to the NYPD.

The incident happened on Aug. 28 around 6:03 p.m.

Police say the man was on a northbound R train at the 28th Street station when an unidentified individual hit him in the face with the toolbox.

The victim got off the train and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police say. The suspect remained on the train.

The NYPD released the following surveillance photos of the suspect.
