Ponoka Fish and Game Association's 57th Annual Rifleman's Rodeo was held at the Pofianga shooting range north of Ponoka Aug. 29 to Sept. 1.

The multi-day event is meant as a fun and relaxed way for hunters to warm up their skills for the season.

"The 57th Rifleman's Rodeo went very well," said event chair Ben Hellervik.

Although hot weather added some challenge to the shooting, there were over 280 entries throughout the weekend in a total of nine categories.

The Rifleman's Rodeo has been around since 1967. When it first started out, it was held in Morningside, said Hellervick.

Since the beginning, they've only missed the event a couple of times.
