A spokesperson for Ontario’s minister of colleges and universities is disputing union claims made at a Belleville rally against cuts at Loyalist College and other institutions.

In an e-mail to The Intelligencer, Bianca Giacoboni, the press secretary to minister and eastern Ontario MPP Nolan Quinn, stated some claims made by members of the Ontario Public Service Employees’ Union (OPSEU) were “baseless and false.”

The union represents faculty and full-time support staff at Loyalist and other institutions and organized the Sept. 3 rally at Loyalist’s main campus.
