SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) — In light of an expected slowdown in both electric vehicle industry growth and customer demand, "General Motors is making strategic adjustments to electric vehicle production."
Reuters has reported that the plant will stop production of two electric Cadillac models. In a statement to News 2, a spokesperson for the Spring Hill GM plant said they would "continue to evaluate and adjust operations based on the market and customer demand. "
"The demand just doesn't appear to be as strong as they had hoped," Dr. Steven Sprick Schuster, an economics professor at Middle Tennessee State University, said.
Sprick Schuster believes the perception of electric vehicles and charging structures across the U.S. hasn't helped boost customer demand. He explained that he's from a
