If you were planning to take the 405 Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass this weekend, you might want to reconsider.
Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, the freeway will be reduced from six lanes to three so Caltrans crews can work on road repairs and improvement.
The work spans from Van Nuys to Westwood, though this weekend's closure will affect the roadway between Sunset and Santa Monica boulevards.
The lanes will fully reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
Several on- and off-ramps will be closed as well, including those at Sunset, Santa Monica, Wilshire and Sepulveda boulevards.
Those who do need to brave the 405 this weekend are advised to be patient, even more so than they usually are.
Other portions of the 405 are expected to be partially closed every other weekend.
