HARLINGEN, Texas (Border Report) — In the latest episode of Border Report Live, International Bank of Commerce Executive Vice President Gerald Schwebel, of Laredo, Texas, talks about how new tariffs imposed on Mexico are affecting the border economy.

Border Report South Texas correspondent Sandra Sanchez spoke with Schwebel about the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which is up for renewal in 2026.

Schwebel serves on binational committees that already are negotiating this important trade agreement between the countries and he says the United States has “leverage” that it appears to be using as they craft trade talks.
