Two candidates in one of New Jersey’s Democratic strongholds are fighting it out in court over an election decided by a two-vote margin .
Roselle Borough Councilwoman Cynthia Johnson challenged incumbent Councilwoman-at-Large Denise Wilkerson for her seat in the Democratic primary in June.
Wilkerson won the primary with 1,496 votes, compared to Johnson’s 1,494 votes, according to the official count.
Johnson’s team challenged the totals in Union County Superior Court, alleging there were additional votes that weren’t counted due to errors made when the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles registered voters.
