TWIN FALLS — College of Southern Idaho men's cross country sophomore Raivio Manzer literally couldn’t wait to dig into his award.

Manzer received a potato for finishing in the top 10 in Friday morning’s Dr. Thad Scholes XC Classic. The Melba graduate didn’t want to take it back to his dorm to wash or peel it. Just took a couple bites immediately after walking away with it.

“It wasn’t good,” Manzer told the Times-News . “It tasted like dirt.”

Just a small part of the hometown charm the Golden Eagles brought to their home meet at the Canyon Springs Golf Course.

A 5K for the women and a 7K for the men inside the Snake River Canyon, with the Perrine Bridge the cherry on top for a stunning backdrop on a gorgeous morning without a cloud in sight.
