EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Susan Haynie’s neighbors are questioning why police did not tell them to keep their homes secure when no one had yet to be arrested for Haynie’s murder.

74-year old Susan Haynie was found dead in her East Gum Street home last Wednesday.

As we reported yesterday, police say a man in custody on burglary charges is now a person of interest in Haynie’s murder, but so far no charges have been filed.

Jamerus Parkman was arrested for the first of two burglary charges four days after Haynie died.

He would not be named as a person of interest in her murder for another three days.

Neighbors are wondering why, if no one was yet under arrest for Haynie’s murder, they were told there was no cause for concern.
