LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) are investigating after a body was found floating on the surface of the Ohio River on Friday.

According to police, a tugboat operator reported seeing what looked like a body north up-river from the Bell of Louisville around 4:30 p.m.

LMPD's River Unit assisted Louisville Fire units with recovering the person's body.

Police said the victim, who was "obviously deceased," appears to be an adult but details about their age, gender, and identity are unknown.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is conducting a death investigation at this time.
