WASHINGTON — A federal watchdog has opened an investigation into the Social Security Administration’s call center operations following concerns raised by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.

Warren asked the agency’s inspector general to review whether call wait times have worsened under the Trump administration, whether the public is receiving accurate information about those wait times, and how staffing decisions have affected service.

The inspector general’s audit is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
