KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was injured just three plays into the season.

Worthy suffered a shoulder injury after colliding with tight end Travis Kelce on a drag route on the third play of Friday night’s season-opening game between the Chiefs and Chargers.

The Chiefs said Worthy was questionable to return after he walked into the locker room under his own power following a three-and-out opening drive.

Chiefs trainers were attending to his shoulder on the sideline after the play. The YouTube broadcast said Worthy was heading the X-ray room.

The former first-round pick out of Texas was expected to shoulder a significant portion of the Chiefs receiving load with wide receiver Rashee Rice suspended for six games to begin the season.
