DENVER -- Padres left-hander Nestor Cortes has been placed on the 15-day injured list with left biceps tendinitis (retroactive to Sept. 4), manager Mike Shildt said prior to San Diego’s series opener in Colorado on Friday night.

In a corresponding move, the club recalled right-hander Ron Marinaccio from Triple-A El Paso.

“He’s been a little ouchy all year,” Shildt said of Cortes. “[This time] it was more than normal.”

Cortes was hit hard for six runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 innings against the Orioles in Wednesday’s 7-5 loss at Petco Park. That included back-to-back-to-back home runs by Baltimore’s Colton Cowser, Colby Mayo and Alex Jackson in the third inning.
