Tulane 30, South Alabama 13

The Green Wave defense, which lived up to its lofty preseason expectations while holding Northwestern to three points, will see whether it can take that show on the road. Don’t assume South Alabama quarterback Bishop Davenport will lose his poise after the opening snap the way Northwestern QB Preston Stone did courtesy of a strip-sack, but Tulane’s talent at every position on that side of the ball should make life comfortable for a Tulane offense that remains a work in progress behind newly arrived quarterback Jake Retzlaff and a bunch of untested skill position players.
