Prosecutors say the misconduct spanned four years, leaving families like Shelli Lara’s facing thousands in unexplained costs while trying to bury loved ones. Attorneys for the funeral homes have not responded. If the lawsuit succeeds, the businesses could be forced to repay families, pay fines, and face stricter oversight.
