FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged on Thursday after allegedly making a bomb threat to a local school.

Franklin County Sheriff A.J. Tony Smith said that the teen made the threat via Snapchat to another student. The teen was arrested after the FCSO was contacted by the staff of the school.

Smith said that if an underage individual is caught making threats, there are severe consequences, such as being put in juvenile detention and expulsion from school.

Smith said it's crucial that parents know who their children are speaking to, what they say online and what apps they are using to communicate.
