A young girl remains in a critical condition in hospital after being mauled by her friend’s dog in regional New South Wales.

Annalyse Blyton (17) was attacked by a large mixed breed dog after she visited a friend’s house on Broughton St in Singleton, in the Hunter region.

She was left with life threatening injuries, suffering critical head, neck and body lacerations.

The 17-year-old remains in a critical condition and is under intensive care after undergoing extensive surgery at John Hunter Hospital.

Police revealed the dog was a 10-year-old, crossbreed boxer, Bull Arab, and Irish Wolfhound.

People rushed in to save Annalyse as they pulled the aggressive dog away.
