DANVERS — The first week of the high school football season is always unforgettable.
Thanks to a heroic performance from Jordan Toribio, St. John’s Prep kicked things off with a truly great win. The junior running back finished with 24 carries for 185 yards and a pair of touchdowns, clinching things with a game-winning two-point rush as St. John’s Prep completed a miraculous rally to stun Springfield Central, 36-35.
“This (game) is definitely top-five,” Toribio said. “It was a great feeling, coming out here. Everybody doubted us. Social media-wise, everybody was hating. We came out here, got the ‘W’, sealed the game.”
