PHOENIX (AZFamily) — COVID-19 cases are climbing again in Arizona, with Maricopa County topping the number of new infections in the state. But people looking to protect themselves may find it harder to get the vaccine.

“Most Americans are going to be able to get it from their pharmacy for free,” said Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during a U.S. Senate hearing on Thursday.

But that hasn’t been the case, because the latest COVID-19 vaccine comes with new restrictions and requirements established under the Department of Health and Human Services .

Paired with the FDA narrowing down who they recommend should get the shot and a little-known Arizona law, access to the vaccine isn’t as easy as it once was.
