Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly personally traveled to North Carolina on a plane borrowed from the state Agriculture Commissioner to extradite 72-year-old Kermit Booth, who faces capital sex crime charges against a child in Flagler County.

Booth, a former Palm Coast resident and Volusia County school employee, was a neighbor of the alleged victim. The charges stem from crimes allegedly committed between 2006 and 2009 against a child then between the ages of 6 and 9. Latest Forecast

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office investigation began in 2015 after the victim's mother contacted law enforcement. Detectives were able to relaunch the investigation after obtaining more information and evidence against Booth.
