LAPWAI, Idaho – Nez Perce Tribal Police (NPTP) detained a suspect after a shooting on Friday evening left one person injured and another dead.

The incident happened around 5:24 p.m. near Ash Avenue and Thunderhill Road. According to NPTP, a male victim was injured and taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, while a female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers also reported taking a suspect into custody at the scene who was allegedly involved with the shooting, but no further information has been shared regarding the suspect.

Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Multiple law enforcement agencies are working together to investigate the incident.
