A North Shore baseball league tailored to include players with disabilities is crying foul after someone quite literally stole their bases.
Highlands Challenger Baseball’s entire locker of gear required for adaptive baseball was stolen out of Norgate Park sometime over the summer.
“Somebody came in and loaded up the whole thing. It wasn’t like it was broken into and stuff stolen. Somebody cut the heavy-gauge lock and chain and loaded everything up and it’s just completely scorched earth there,” said Tony Makowsky, division co-ordinator for the league and a parent of one of the players. “Now there’s nothing left. All our gear was in there – our bases, balls, bats, everything.”
The league first got the locker in 2018, funded largely by the charitable arms of the North Vancouver City Fire
