With 0:22 left to play in the fourth quarter, the Academy of Richmond County had the ball near Westside’s 20-yard line down 10-9. The Musketeers had trailed the majority of the game, but all they had to do was run down the clock and kick a field goal to win the game.

Trying to get deeper into the redzone, sophomore quarterback Carson Hand dropped back to pass. He threw the ball, but instead of the intended receiver, it was picked off by Westside senior linebacker Jeffrey Hughes. Hughes then ran it back nearly 80 yards for a game-clinching pick-six in Westside’s 17-9 victory over Richmond Academy.
