Reigning champion Jannik Sinner will play Carlos Alcaraz for the US Open title after the Italian beat Canadian 25th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in four sets on Friday.
World number one Sinner defeated Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and is chasing a fifth career major after joining Rod Laver, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as the only men to reach all four Grand Slam finals in a season.
“It’s been an amazing season. The Grand Slams are the most important tournaments we have throughout the year,” said Sinner.
Sinner, 24, will face the 22-year-old Alcaraz for the third successive Grand Slam final. Sinner captured the Australian Open and Wimbledon titles this season but lost to Alcaraz in an epic five-set battle in the French Open final.
