ELLETTSVILLE — For anyone wondering if things have really changed 180 degrees with Edgewood's football program , be skeptical no more.

With 1:30 left in the fourth quarter, the Mustangs looked like they were 71 yards away from nothing more than a moral victory after a nine-point lead got away in a blink. But they wanted more and by the end of the night, one of the smallest players on the field made the biggest impact.

Kade Gilchrist's ability to boot the ball through the uprights was the most precious commodity of the night in Edgewood's stunning 31-30 double overtime win over Class 1A No. 1 South Putnam on Friday, Sept. 5 at the Mustang Corral. The Eagles came up empty on all five of their extra-point tries, whether, by run, pass or kick.
