BUTTE — Hardin-Lodge Grass felt assured of its victory after its quarterback, DJ Lefthand, rushed into the endzone to put the Bulldogs up by 2 with a minute and a half left in their game against Butte Central on Friday night.

Down for most of the game but revitalized after a second-half surge, Hardin-Lodge Grass’ energy was palpable after battling its way back into contention by claiming the lead late in the fourth quarter.

But even with 1:35 left on the clock, the Maroons held each other up.

“We were like, ‘We have to get down after down,’” senior wide receiver GG Fantini said. “‘We can’t give up on each other. No arguing. We have to go down after down and just march down the field.’”

And march down the field they did.
