MISSION VIEJO — Mission Viejo hosted one of Northern California’s top teams Friday and gave the visitors a hostile welcome to Southern California.

The Diablos dominated Folsom 53-14 in a matchup between two teams ranked in the Top 10 in the state.

Folsom (2-1) entered Friday as the top-ranked team in the CIF San Joaquin Section and was coming off a win against Northern California powerhouse Serra of San Mateo.

The game featured two quarterbacks committed to major colleges: Folsom’s Ryder Lyons (BYU) and Mission Viejo’s Luke Fahey (Ohio State).

Lyons entered Friday averaging 398 passing yards per game with eight touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns. Mission Viejo (3-0) solved the Lyons problem by sacking him eight times and held him to a season-low 177 yards.
