College basketball fans hoping for a new college hoops video game received good news on Thursday as 2K announced “we’re going back to school.”

In a statement posted on X, 2K revealed that a new college basketball video game is coming in 2027 “and beyond.” The statement added that there are “even a few surprises coming in early 2026.”

While news of a college basketball video game coming back is overall a positive, not everyone is thrilled about the details.

The reason for the frustration is the fact that there are more than 350 Division I college basketball programs, but 2K says that the video game will include “more than 100 programs from across the country.”

That means that more than 200 Division I college basketball programs could be missing from the game.
