Duke football rolls into a Week 2 contest against No. 11/12 Illinois at Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 6 (Noon, ESPN).
The Blue Devils opened their season with a 45-17 victory over Elon fueled by quarterback Darian Mensah’s 389 yards through the air and three touchdown passes. Illinois also rolled in its opener, cruising past Western Illinois 52-3 as Luke Altmyer threw for 217 yards and three scores.
This will be just the third all-time meeting between the two programs. The series sits at one win apiece — Duke earned a 15-13 home victory in 1958, while Illinois answered with a 28-14 win in Champaign in 1965.
