As monsoon storms swept flooding, wind gusts and power outages across Yuma County Sept. 4, a number of schools were disrupted the day after. Namely, four schools of Yuma Elementary School District One closed Friday, Sept. 5, due to the various levels of damage sustained:
G.W. Carver Elementary School: Area power outage
James D. Price Elementary School: Storm damage to building
Palmcroft Elementary School: Flooding
Gila Vista Jr. High: Flooding
All the schools listed are expected to open and operate as regularly scheduled on Monday, Sept. 8.
Other school districts, however, were spared such impacts.
