UNC football is trying to avoid an 0-2 start for the first time since 2018, Larry Fedora's final season as head coach of the Tar Heels .
Head coach Bill Belichick 's bunch is on to Charlotte to play the 49ers on Saturday, Sept. 6 (7 p.m., ESPN+ ) at Jerry Richardson Stadium, which is boosting its seating capacity from 15,000 to around 18,000 for the Tar Heels ' arrival.
UNC (0-1) and Charlotte (0-1) have played just once, with the Tar Heels earning a 38-20 victory in 2024 at Kenan Stadium. The Tar Heels have won six nonconference games in a row against in-state opponents, but only one of those games (App State, 2022) was on the road.
