A British couple among those killed in the Lisbon funicular crash have been named. A total of 16 people died when the popular tourist attraction derailed in the centre of the city on Wednesday night (September 3).
Theatre director Kayleigh Smith and her partner William Nelson, a lecturer at Manchester's Arden School of Theatre, have been identified as two of the three Britons killed.
It is believed Ms Smith lived in Macclesfield. Mr Nelson's Facebook page states he lived in Chorley, Lancashire.
Ms Smith is understood to have graduated from the Arden School of Theatre, where Mr Nelson ran a Master's degree in directing.
MADS Theatre in Macclesfield posted a tribute on Friday night acknowledging their deaths, writing that Ms Smith was 'a dear friend to many and will be greatly missed'.
