Kingston Fire & Rescue has lifted the total burn ban that was in effect across the city, according to a news release issued Friday.

However, effective immediately, a partial burn ban takes its place. Under a partial burn ban, the following restrictions apply:

Agricultural fires and brush fires are prohibited. Also, fireworks are not permitted.

Residents are permitted to use some outdoor appliances. Wood-burning appliances like outdoor fireplaces and chimineas are allowed as long as they are CSA-approved and in compliance with their permit conditions.

Kingston residents can now enjoy campfires with a valid permit and following the size, location and supervision requirements in the open-air fires bylaw.
