It follows the biggest single year investment at the campus when compared to the past 12 years.

Figures obtained under the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act show that in 2024/25 the Department for Economy (DfE) spent £11.8m on the Londonderry campus.

That investment has contributed to a year-on-year increase in student numbers of 510 — more than the total for the previous 10 years combined up to April 2023, when student places climbed by 421.

A sizeable chunk of funding went towards acquiring property close to the campus at Timberquay which will allow the university to accommodate hundreds of new students this academic year.

FoI responses cover the 12-year period to April this year.
