The Department for Work and Pensions review into the state pension age could target the "most pressing issue" for households. State pensioners have been warned as Dr Suzy Morrissey launches a review into the state pension age from the DWP .

Mark Pemberthy, benefits consulting leader at consultancy firm Gallagher , said in a warning: "This is all before we even consider the most pressing issue. Working people are generally not saving enough for an enjoyable retirement.

"The Pension Commission also has an important part to play over the next few years in ensuring that we all save enough for an adequate retirement income."
