MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The City of Madison is a 2025 Dane County Climate Champion, earning recognition in two categories.

Recognition was given in the Catalyst category for the Building Energy Savings Program and in the Fleet Operations category for the City of Madison Fleet Service Division’s use of renewable diesel, per the City.

Madison’s renewable diesel test program grew this year, and leaders said results were overwhelming positive.

Madison’s Building Energy Savings Program (BESP) partners with building owners to improve energy performance. So far, 397 buildings have joined. The City said more nearly 400 expected to join in 2026.

Dane County started the Climate Champions program to recognize governments, businesses and non-profits taking action to reduce carbon emissions.
