AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron Fire reported “immediate threat of danger” after a train car containing hydrochloric acid tipped off the tracks Friday morning.
According to a release, Wheeling Lake Erie Railroad reported that a single train car had tipped off the tracks in its rail yard located at 1907 E. Market Street around 9:45 a.m.
The tanker was carrying hydrochloric acid, but it remained intact, and no leaks were reported.
The Ohio EPA, Akron Police Department, Akron Fire Department, EnviroServe and representatives from Wheeling Lake Erie Railroad responded to the scene.
Four large cranes were used to place the train car back on the track.
Akron Fire said the incident is still under investigation.
