When U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the suspension of work Visas for commercial drivers from Mexico, it was a matter of time before the fallout in commerce would follow.

The announcement by the Trump administration on Aug. 21 came on the heels of an investigation into a crash on a Florida highway on Aug. 12 that killed three people, and where the driver was an Indian national who did not speak English or have legal authorization to be in the country, according to Florida and U.S. officials, Reuters reported .

Yet cutting the flow of work permits for legal commercial drivers trying to comply with English proficiency requirements has not only decimated a much-needed workforce but also stalled the shipping of necessary products intended for American consumers.
