Rep. Pete Stauber claims to support veterans, but his voting record tells a different story.
In March 2022, he voted against the Honoring Our PACT Act, a landmark bill that expanded health care for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits. This bill addressed cancer, respiratory illness, and other service-connected conditions affecting thousands, including many in our district. His vote delayed help for sick and dying veterans.
While Stauber later supported the final version after public pressure, his initial “no” vote was a betrayal. As one veteran wrote in a letter in the News Tribune , Stauber’s actions showed “contempt for American service veterans.”
Rep. Stauber also voted against the Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act, denying women veterans reproductive health care. Acco
