HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Deputies arrested a man after they found a gun and drugs during a traffic stop.

On Friday, around 5 p.m., the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over 26-year-old Kelvin Clayton near Zoo Road and West Tenth Street in Roanoke Rapids for a violation.

Clayton was found to have an outstanding probation violation warrant.

During a probable cause search, deputies say they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a concealed handgun.

The gun was found behind the glove box compartment, according to deputies.

Deputies say Clayton is a convicted felon with a pending firearm possession charge.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
