A Cambridge swimming pool was evacuated after a “strong smell of chlorine” came from the pool. The Abbey Leisure Complex in Whitehill Road, Cambridge, was evacuated at around 11.15am on Saturday (September 6).

This was due to a “strong smell of chlorine” in the pool resulting in “reported physical effects”. It is not yet clear what these effects were.

A spokesperson for Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), which oversees the pool said: “Abbey Leisure Complex was evacuated at approximately 11.15am this morning as a precaution following reported physical effects caused by a strong smell of chlorine in the pool.

"Staff alerted Emergency Services who arrived at 11.30am and attended a number of people at the scene. Following full ventilation of the building, the Fire Brigade confirmed no ris
